MUISS
Promoting social and cultural exchange between international students from different countries and the wider university community
The main objective of the Monash University International Students service is to protect the welfare of all international students studying at the Clayton Campus and ensure their rights and interests are upheld. By virtue of their enrolment status, all international students enrolled at Monash University Clayton are automatically members of MUISS.
MUISS also acts as a meeting point for international students of different nationalities and as a bridge to the wider Monash community. Moreover, MUISS promotes volunteerism and is a training ground for international student leadership. MUISS is run by elected international leaders and is guided by the principle that students must help other students. It runs an English conversation program to help students from non-English speaking backgrounds to become confident in their spoken English and allow them to forge new friendships.
MUISS strives to organise activities and events geared at enriching the student experience of both local and international, through cultural exchange, i.e. Cultural Dinners and the Multicultural Festival and Ball. Other events are focused on helping new international students to feel at home at Monash and settle into their life in Australia, i.e., Summer and Winter Swoops. Visit the MUISS lounge, the hub of international students, to experience its “home away from home” atmosphere and to meet friends from other countries.

MUISS Summer Swoop (Amazing Race) |

Date: Thursday 18th February 2010. Whole day from 8.30am. Venue: Cellar room (start/end point), Building 10, Clayton Campus. Cost: $5 per person (includes transport & dinner). Program: Amazing race around prominent landmarks within Clayton campus & surrounding suburbs. Run by past & present MUISS students. Make new friends and have fun discovering Clayton and its surroundings. Registration: Mon 15th - Wed 17th Feb at the airport lounge, 10am - 3pm. |

HWD/MUISS lunch for International Students |

Date: Monday 22nd February 2010, 12pm - 4.30pm. Venue: Banquet room, Building 10, Clayton Campus. Cost: FREE Program: Introduction to MUISS, and useful talks from Health Wellbeing and Development (HWD). Lunch provided. Registration: Not required, just turn up. |
