Monash Student Association

The dates for the Monash Student Association (Clayton) elections will be the 20th - 23rd of September, 2010 and nominations are now open. Positions to be elected are President, Treasurer, Secretary, Education Academic Affairs, Education Public Affairs, Welfare Officer, Women's Officer, Male Queer Officer, Female Queer Officer, Environment & Social Justice Officer, Indigenous Officer, Activities Officer and Lot's Wife Editor/s.

There are also members to be elected to the Monash Student Council (5 General Representatives), Women's Affairs Collective (5 Members), Student Affairs Committee (10 Members) and National Union of Students delegate positions (7 positions).

Nominations have opened and will close at 5pm Friday 27 August 2010. Ticket Reregistrations and registrations have re-opened and can be lodged from 9:00am until 5:00pm Friday 27th August.

Make the most of your student experience - get involved in the MSA today!

The Monash Student Association Clayton union was established in 1962 by students to serve students. When you enrol at Monash Clayton you automatically become a part of the Monash Student Association (MSA).

Our headquarters are located on the first floor of the campus centre, including our reception where you can find lots of information about us and services we provide.

We are comprised of elected office bearers who lead the organisation and staff who help facilitate the MSA's projects. The association has multiple departments and divisions which all operate with a common purpose: to serve and represent Clayton students.

Becoming A Member

With the introduction of VSU in 2006, the student union survived substantial funding cuts. As a result, it became increasingly difficult to provide the same standard of services for students that we provided prior to VSU. It has become incredibly important that students continue to support the services and representation that the MSA provides and that all students use.

Today, students have several ways in which they can support the union. The most important is the MSA Card, costing only $59 and $44 in Second Semester (includes 2x $5 vouchers) which can be used at any of the MSA outlets or on any MSA event or activity!! The MSA Card also provides numerous discounts to MSA services and various outlets inside the campus centre! Get Involved!

You can get involved in heaps of different ways!

If you have concerns about your education, or if you want an issue addressed, the MSA is the place to have your voice heard.

How do you do this? There are a number of ways. Submit a letter or an article to be printed in the student newspaper Lot's Wife, find out when Student General Meetings are held (and vote), join a committee (there's loads), or even run for election in second semester!

Being passionate about issues isn't the only way to get involved. The MSA also offers a lighter side to student life, with an orientation program for incoming students, a student bar and vegetarian restaurant to relax with friends in, numerous activities on campus throughout the year, theatre productions, recreational courses, clubs and societies and various student lounges.
