Divisional Support Officer

A division of the Monash Student Association (MSA), MAPS promotes & protects the interests of mature age (23 & over), part-time and distance education undergraduate students enrolled at Clayton Campus, supporting these students as they combine study with other commitments of their age group and study circumstances.

A fully equipped MAPS lounge and quiet study area is provided for the exclusive use of MAPS constituents, open from 8am to 8pm on academic weekdays.

A MAPS Divisional Support Officer provides administrative support and a point of contact for MAPS students. Office hours are from 9.00am to 1.00pm on Tuesdays and Fridays during academic semesters.

Through its pro-active research and advocacy roles, MAPS strives to raise the profile of mature age, part-time and distance education undergraduates both within and outside the University. MAPS is also concerned with career issues for mature age graduates. It provides:

  • a strong support network for students.

  • a MAPS student lounge with study carrels in a Quiet Study Area, networked computers with printing facilities, scan & fax services, and low-cost refreshments.
  • representation on a range of education-related issues on University meetings.
  • newsletters, social functions and study skills workshops.
  • for further information about MAPS services, visit the Services page.

MAPS actively engages its constituents in the running of its day-to-day affairs through the MAPS Executive Committee (MAPSEC), a body elected into office in October each year. The functions of MAPS and MAPSEC is governed by the MAPS constitution, distinct and seperate from the MSA constitution.
