Student Theatre
Monash University Student Theatre is a department of the Monash Student Association, run by professional theatre makers that creates theatre by, with and for Monash Students and the wider community. We strive to create diverse, challenging and fun theatre of a high artistic standard for our audiences and those involved.
We have a yearly artistic program that generally comprises 2 or 3 shows directed by our Artistic Director, 4 student submissions and many one off events- all of which attract audiences from all over Melbourne. We also run heavily subsidised workshops in performing, backstage and film that are taught by professional tutors of note in their field. These workshops are also open to the general public. We have a dedicated space at the Western end of the Campus Centre and sometimes perform in venues off campus as well.

Activities are open to all students (and staff!)- no experience is needed, just enthusiasm. We need: actors and dancers; designers for sets, costumes, posters, lighting and sound; PR, production and stage managers, and more. If you are interested in any of these roles, let us know. If you have no experience in a particular area, we can train you or pair you up with someone who does! For more information, contact us directly. Our staff are Artistic Director Yvonne Virsik and Phil Norton who is the Manager of Media, Arts and Recreation, MSA.
Monash also has three performance-based clubs. These are the Monash Players, The Monash Shakespeare Society and MUMCo, the musical theatre company. They all have their own artistic program and perform in the Student Theatre space.
